Ariana Alva Ferrari

Ariana was born in Peru and is currently living in Germany and studying M.Sc in Bioeconomy at the University of Hohenheim. She considers herself a circular economy (CE) enthusiast and is about to embark on two exciting journeys that incorporate CE. First one being her Master’s thesis research about CE startups and the second one founding a startup that uses agricultural production side streams to create more sustainable food products. 

Abdul Rehman

Abdul Rehman from Pakistan, is currently a Master’s student at University of Kassel & University of Applied Sciences Fulda, studying International Food Business & Consumer studies. Towards shifting paradigms in food Production, Processing and Eating behaviours, Abdul has a keen interest in developing hypotheses for his Master’s thesis and further research studies ultimately leading to the sustainable, socially acceptable and effective alternatives.

Caroline Beach

Caroline is from Georgia, USA, but moved to the Czech Republic to pursue higher education. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing, she pivoted to International Development and Agricultural Economics for her master’s degree. She is currently studying at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, and her diploma thesis reviews the effectiveness of the organizational structures of agricultural cooperatives as they pertain to women’s empowerment goals in the country of Georgia.

Naji Sulaiman

Naji is from Syria, a PhD candidate at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. He is an MSc graduate from the same university in the Tropical Crop Management and Ecology programme. Naji is researching about wild plants importance for people during the conflict in Syria. Believing that science must be shared with non-specialized public is the main motive why Naji joined the Student Reporters team. Besides his contribution in the reporters team, Naji will have an oral presentation at the conference.

Adaugo Okoli

Ada is from Nigeria, studying Environmental Protection & Food production at the University of Hohenheim, Germany. She is currently carrying out her Master’s research project on Carbon certification systems for smallholder farmers in rural Kenya. Ada’s love for people and communications, combined with her interest in sustainable food systems, is what piqued her interest in the Student reporter program. She hopes to find more unique opportunities to combine these interests in future.

Amina Ahmed

Amina Ahmed is from Tanzania, but moved to Germany to pursue her PhD at University of Goettingen. She is currently working with the FruVaSe project to come up with improved resource-efficient processing techniques for surplus African leafy vegetables for rural development in Sub-Saharan Africa. She is also a holder of MSc. Food Technology, MSc. Public Health and Food Safety, and BSc. Food Science and Technology. She is devoted to working hard towards contributing to food security, better nutrition and public health quality assurance in Tanzania and the globe at large.
