Meet the Student Reporters
At every Tropentag, there’s a special group working behind the scenes and often right in the middle of the action capturing stories, snapping photos, and asking you questions you may not have expected. Yes, we’re talking about the student reporters!
As ATSAF president Prof. Dr. Folkard Asch reminded everyone in his opening remarks:
“Here are the student reporters for this year’s Tropentag conference. They are coming from all over the world and are all studying different forms of science courses somewhere in Europe. We are very happy to have them here and one thing is, when they come to you and ask you for an interview, for photos, or some other information, please help them in doing their job.”

And that’s us. We’re a diverse team of 12 students with backgrounds in agriculture, ecology, food systems, and communication, united by one mission: to share Tropentag 2025 with the world.
This year, you’ll spot us at keynote sessions, poster corners, coffee breaks, and maybe even out in the rainy Bonn streets always with a notebook, camera, or microphone in hand. Our goal? To bring you stories that go beyond the slides and statistics: the human moments, the sparks of new ideas, and the energy that makes Tropentag so unique.
Curious to see who we are? We’ve prepared a short video introduction for you. Follow our blogs, social media posts, reels, and videos throughout the week. If you see us around, don’t be shy, we’d love to talk! After all, this conference isn’t just about research, it’s about the people who make it happen.
