Tropentag 2023

Handing Over the Baton to Göttingen: Tropentag 2026 Awaits

After three days of vibrant discussions and knowledge-sharing, the curtain falls on this year’s Tropentag in Bonn. Under the theme “Reconciling Land System Changes with Planetary Health,” researchers, students, and practitioners came together to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and spark new collaborations. The energy of these sessions has been electric, setting a powerful tone for what comes next.

Today marks not just an end, but a handover. The baton now passes to Göttingen — the official venue for Tropentag 2026. Next year’s conference will be jointly organized by Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and Universität Kassel, bringing together even more perspectives and partnerships.

The theme for Tropentag 2026 — “Towards Multi-functional Agro-ecosystems Promoting Climate Resilient Futures” — signals a bold step forward. It reflects the growing need for climate-smart research, practical solutions, and conversations that bridge disciplines. Organizers are aiming for deeper knowledge transfer, more inclusive dialogues, and broader public outreach to ensure these ideas resonate beyond the academic sphere.

And the excitement doesn’t stop here. With Tropentag 2026 in Göttingen already on the horizon, the organizers leave us with a promise:

“We look forward to meeting you all to talk, to explore, to learn, and to party.”

For now, we close the chapter in Bonn, and the countdown to Tropentag 2026 in Göttingen officially begins. See you there!
